25 Years of Progress at Menihek Nordic

From meager beginnings in 1975 with a simple one-room hut and a mixture of nationalities, the Menihek Nordic Ski Club has seen continuous progress over the last 25 years.

Starting out in 1975 with no equipment and compacting trails with snowshoes, the club acquired and fabricated grooming equipment. Having Alpine Ski-doos and a Bombi, club members handled such high-caliber events as the World Cup Final in 1983.

In 1981 the club built another clubhouse, which served the membership until 1992, at which time the A-frame chalet was built. This was functional for the 1992 Canadian Senior Championships.

Today the club boasts Alpine II skidoos, jaca Track Setters, and a state-of-the-art piston bully groomer.

Now in the year 2000, we have a fully licensed bar, kitchen and computerized office, not to mention a healthy membership, a good volunteer base and an excellent junior development program.

Menihek Nordic is zooming into the 21st century with its 25th anniversary celebrations.
