I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the unforgettable adventure that awaits you to discover in Labrador West!!

 Let your Adventure begin in beautiful Sept-Iles , Quebec. Tour and experience the beauty of this city.  Make an experience to the past, visit the trading post, experience the Innu culture and cruise the Archeplajo. All Aboard!!!!  This morning you will board the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway and begin your day long journey through the spectacular scenery of the Moisie River Valley.  Have your camera’s ready this is one photo opportunity you do not want to miss!!!*

You and your group will be met by your Labrador West tour guides as you board the train. Our friendly and informative guides will assist you in explaining the train tour guide that will be provided to you upon departure.  Awaiting you in Labrador City is your welcoming committee. Our tour guides have a surprise just for you so have those cameras ready!!!

 

We will now transfer you to your choice hotel. We have three lovely hotels in the Labrador West area all well known for their warmth and hospitality. Our hotels are all motor coach friendly with ample parking and the driver will be able to wash the coach upon arrival. All our hotels provide baggage handling and have fine restaurants on site. We provide a lovely and informative welcome package to all our motorcoach passengers.

A group photo can be arranged and the 8x10 photos ready for your group upon departure.

 

The next morning begins with a tour of the two towns that make up Labrador West, Labrador City and Wabush. Let our informative and friendly tour guides share the history and culture of the towns they are proud to call home.  From here we will travel to neighbouring Fermont, Quebec just a short drive from Labrador City to visit the “Wall” as it is known by the residents who live there. This 100,000.00 dollar windscreen is one of only three in the world and exhibits an unique style of living in the northern climate.

 

 

After Lunch we will tour one of the largest open pit mines in North America. Labrador West is home to the Iron Ore Company of Canada and Wabush Mines who together  with Quebec Cartier Mining is responsible for 80 percent of Canada’s iron ore production. You will have your choice of touring either mine.  Come marvel in the larger then life equipment . Have your camera’s ready this is another photo opportunity you do not want to miss!!

 

From here, after your unforgettable mine experience we will take you to the Edmund Montague Exhibit Hall within the Gateway Labrador Complex, home to our Visitor Information Centre.  We will give you a glimpse into the history and culture of all of Labrador. With artifacts, interpretive panels, DVD-style theatre, and interactive computer kiosks, the Exhibit Hall traces the region’s history from the appearance of the Innu about 3500 years ago to present-day mega-projects that mark the area.

 

Come Visit our local Craft Producers and Visual Artist who display their works at our Visitor Information Centre throughout the summer month.

 

After Dinner we will take you to a Screech In Party, Labrador Style! Come join in as we provide live local entertainment, Newfoundland and Labrador Recitations, and a fond farewell complete with song and dance. This ceremony will take place at Menihek Nordic Ski Club nestled in the heart of Smokey Mountain.  Tonight you will become an honorary Newfoundland and Labradorian.

The Police Pull Over / Singing Police Man

Your Motor Coach will be pulled over by our local Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and your driver questioned in a fun manner (All passengers (including driver) will be aware that this is a staged event) Then after a few minutes the Officer will Welcome all your passengers to Labrador West and present them with honorary Labrador Adventurer Certificates. 

Labrador Gateway Surprise - After Exhibit Tour, your group will be treated to coffee and local favorites from our pioneers. Meet our Gateway staff.  A welcome cake will also be provided as our way of saying thank you for joining us. 

Welcome Packages In each of your passengers rooms upon arrival we be waiting an informative welcome package containing information from Labrador West..

 

Other Excursions:

 

  1. Excursion to Churchill Falls. Located only three short hours from Labrador City. Churchill Falls is home to the largest underground hydro electric facility in the Western Hemisphere. Here your group can tour this world class attraction that is visited annually by thousands of tourists from all over the world.

 

  1. Grande Hermine Park Excursion Located on 30 minutes from Labrador City, this beautiful campground is a lovely park to visit and walk the nature trail. Let your hosts Cavell and Ned Burke take you on a  tour then have a outdoor  lunch.  This is a great way to send the afternoon.
