We're approaching late October so ski season can't be far off. By this time last year our first skier had already been out but I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer this season. The warm temperatures so far this month are very unusual for our area. We do know that the snow will come, it's just a matter of when it will happen. Fall training camp for the Provincial Ski Team is set for November 24th to December 2nd and I'm sure we'll have plenty of snow by then. The team will be having two races while they are at the club and we will be looking for volunteers to help with the timing and other duties. If you have helped out in the past and would like to do so again, please call the chalet office and leave your name.

Two events are scheduled for November at the chalet. Saturday, November 3rd, will be the AGM starting at 7p.m. with refreshments to follow. The new executive for the upcoming ski season will be elected at this time. The following week, Saturday, November 10th, will be the annual " Toast to the Trails" opening social. This will be a family oriented evening so pack up the kids and bring your grub for the grill. Coals will be ready by 6p.m. so even the little ones can attend .Come and join us and help jump start the new ski season.

Registration for the Jackrabbit Ski Program will be held at the chalet on Saturday November 3rd and 10th from 1-4p.m. The program is open to children 4-13 years old and should be up and running by mid November if the weather cooperates and we have snow. Registration is on a First come-First serve basis. Children do not have to have their own ski equipment, it will be provided free of charge during the program.

We will be holding waxing clinics at the beginning of the ski season so watch the Aurora for announcements. Ski lessons are available through the club, just call the chalet office to book a time.
