Menihek Nordic Holds AGM
Twenty-two ski club members gathered at the chalet on Saturday, November 3rd, for the AGM and election of the executive for the 2001-2002 ski season. The evening opened with a welcome from club president Gerry Rideout . Gerry went over the highlights of the past season with the biggest accomplishment being our new PB 100 Pisten Bully Packer. He mentioned the success of the chalet bookings and the revenue it brings in to the club. He thanked all those members who volunteer countless hours with the catering and the Jackrabbit Ski Program. A special thank you went out to all our sponsors who helped us out over the past season.
The election of the new executive was next on the agenda and this was handled by Theresa Baker. Gerry Rideout remains as Club president with Jim Baker taking over as Vice President. John Angel is Treasurer with Bridget Baker returning as Secretary. Following are the club Directors: Barry Hillier will take care of membership, Naaman Randell will handle Building Maintance, Alf Parsons returns as Coaching and Junior Development Director, With Kathie Bonner-Harris is Publicity and Newsletter Director.Stephanie Corbett is our new Youth Director with Ron McClatchie and Nelson Valcourt as Directors at Large. Gerry Rideout will also wear the hat of Trail Maintence /Lopper Director. Under the banner of Special Committees Alf Parsons will take care of Lopper Promotion.
During the remainder of the meeting two motions were made and passed by those present. It was decided that the age for senior skier would be raised from the present age of 55 years to the age of 60 years. It was also decided that each membership sold would be given a coupon to enable that member to bring along a friend for a free day of skiing during the upcoming season. This coupon will also include free rentals for the visitor for that day. The coupon must be presented at the chalet office on the day it is being used. If you already have your membership purchased for this season just speak to Beatrice or Rhonda to get your coupon. There will only be one coupon issued for each membership whether it's a single or family membership. So if you have a friend who has wanted to try our trails, this is your opportunity to bring them along free of charge.
Jackrabbit registration is now on the way. The tentative start up date for Jackrabbits is Saturday, November 17th. Please watch the Aurora and listen to CBC Radio and CFLW Radio for announcements on club events.
Skiing has already started for the season. We lost our snow for last week but hopefully more will be on the way soon. Please remember to buy your membership for this season before using the trails. Membership tags are to be displayed on your ski gear so they are visible to others. Ski Tags for this season are now ready for pick up at the chalet office for those who have purchased their pass for this season.
See you on the trails.
See you on the trails !!!
