The snow has finally arrived and the trails are looking good. All trails are now open and groomed. The Around the Lake trail will be groomed for both classical and skating Monday to Friday and also on Sunday. It will be double tracked on Saturdays for use by the Jackrabbit program. The Vellos Trail will also be groomed for skating and classical .

Jackrabbits are cancelled for the two weeks of Christmas vacation and will resume on Saturday, January 5th.

During the Christmas holidays Rhonda Lawrence and Alf Parsons will be running their annual Christmas Camp. This is open to anyone who wishes to attend and will involve training in both classical and skating techniques. Anyone wanting further information on the dates for the camp can call the chalet office and speak with Rhonda.

Each Sunday the club holds time trials at the ski chalet. These are open to any skier who wants to attend. It's a good chance for you to challenge yourself and have some fun. The time trials start at 1p.m. in front of the chalet. If you are interested in joining in please do so.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games will be held in Gander in late February. On December 29th and 30th we will be holding run-offs to help select the skiers who will represent Labrador. In order to qualify you must be born between March 3rd, 1983 ,and December 31st, 1989. Please call the chalet if you are interested in trying out for the Labrador cross country ski team on these dates.

On Sunday, January 6th, Alf Parsons will be giving his first waxing clinic of the season. It will be held at 11am at the waxing hut and will cost $5.00 per person with the money going to the Junior Development program. This clinic will deal with basic waxing techniques for everyday skiing with the emphasis on applying grip wax, where to apply it and how to judge what wax is for what temperature.

The chalet will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve the chalet will close its doors at 1 p.m. The chalet will be open on Boxing Day to allow everyone to ski off all that turkey dinner.

See you on the trails.
