Labrador Snowmobile Drag Racing
|
** Races are over for the 2007 season. Click on the links to the left to see the results. ** Snowmobile drag racing occurs on Tanya Lake in Labrador City. It's a 660' groomed snow track (snow drags) with two snowmobiles racing against each other. The winner advances in the 'A' pool while the loser moves to the 'B' pool. If a racer loses again in the 'B' pool he/she is eliminated from that class. The start line consists of two lasers and a full race tree lighting system. A racer must move past the first laser (staging laser) but not passed the second laser. Once both racers are staged the light tree is activated which consists of three yellow lights in sequence (0.5 seconds apart) followed by a green light. If a racer breaks the second laser before the green light is activated the red light comes on and that racer loses. The first racer to break the finish laser 660' down the track, activates the light for that lane and is the winner. Racing normally starts in January or February with approximately 5-6 races per season. More info can be found by following the links to the left. Drag racing also occurs at Fermont and Goose Bay with a triple crown event at each location.
