Down By The Riverside Andrew Joseph Nash
Full many days have passed and gone How quickly did they glide Since all my friends at early dawn met by the riverside In summertime we wandered off Just four of us as boys There was Jack and George and Joe and I Down by the riverside
Where are the boys, those merry boys Who joined with me in play Not all have reached to manhood prime in Branch St. Mary's Bay Some are now in foreign lands Some in the church yard lie And few of us are let to stray
The hands of time’s passed o’er our brown Sprinkled its chilly snow Our steps are weak We tother now, the bright waves onward flow But as I gaze upon the scene I love thee still with pride As dear in age as youthful dreams Down by the riverside.
