Trails
Labrador
West has one of the longest snowmobile seasons in all of
North America with hundreds of miles of groomed trails and
thousands of miles of areas where there is only virgin snow. Labrador
West is fairly new to groomed trails even though we have
been using snowmobiles for a long time. Labrador is also the
home to the largest caribou herd in the world
"The George River Caribou Herd" this herd travels
regularly
between Quebec and Labrador but during the winter months the
caribou migrate to this area Labrador
to feed and then they stay in this area until the middle of
May making it a great opportunity for taking pictures of these
nomads of the north. With a dedicated staff
working on the trails night and day, the trails are kept in
good condition. Wolves are common here and they are
often heard at night howling ,these hunters of the north
follow the migration of the caribou and often you get to see
them .What better way to spend the evening listening to the sound of wolves howling
and watching the northern lights (Aurora Borealis)
in the clear skies of Labrador away from other people and
enjoying the solitude of this crisp northern frontier. Out of
365 days you can see the Northern Lights here 267 nights
making for a very good chance to see this miracle of nature.
This is nature at its best and once you have seen the Northern
Lights you will want to see them again and again.
