About our Club

The main activities at our club are the shotgun sportsof Skeet, Trap and Sporting Clays. We also have rifle/pistol shooting.

SKEET
Skeet is shot on a field with 2 machines facing each other, 40 yardsapart. One is located 12 ft. above ground in a structure referred to asthe high house. The other is 3 ft. high in the low house. Targets alwaysfly the same path but the angles are changed as the shooters move aroundthe field and attempt shots from 8 different stations, a maximum of 5 shootersmake up a squad, but only 1 shoots at a time. The machines are self loadingand electrically released from a control cable. This is an excellent sportand probably the most popular at our club.

TRAP
Trap uses one machine located in a bunker 16 yds. in front of the shooter. The trick here is that the machine constantly swings back and forth sothat when the shooter calls for a bird he/she has no idea in what directionit will emerge. A maximum of 5 shooters can participate with only one firingat a time. Shooting is fast paced and exciting.

SPORTING CLAYS
Sporting Clays is a combination of Trap and Skeet. The exciting newshotgun game called "sporting clays" is one of the fastest growing shootingsport today. Sporting clays is a unique game for shotgunners that is oftencompared to golf more than the traditional shotgun games of trap and skeet.Just as golf course vary, all sporting clay courses are different withlayouts frequently being changed in order to keep courses new and challenging. There is no such thing in sporting clays as a standard layout. Certaincourses may find the sporting clay shooter taking shots from boats, blinds, and open field or woods, simulating a hunt for a particular game speciessuch as duck, quail, dove, pheasant, or even rabbit. There are many differenttargets used in sporting clays, the standard, mini, rabbit, and the battue.

Standard: 108mm in diameter,it is also used in trap and skeet.Mini: This bird is only 60mm in diameter and i sometimes called a flying asprin.
Rabbit: This target is designed to roll along the ground and bounce and hop similar to a real bunny.Battue: This target is so thin it is commonly called the razor blade. It starts out fast and as it slows down it rolls over on it's side simulating a decoying duck.

Rifle/Pistol
In addition to the shotgun games a rifle/pistol range offers a varietyof shooting opportunities. We have a large number of knockdown steel targetsand are equipped for metallic silhouette and handgun combat shooting. HighPowered rifles can also be used on the 100-yd range.

NO SHOOTING IS ALLOWED AT THE CLUB UNLESS A RANGE OFFICIERIS PRESENT. MOST OF OUR MEMBERS HAVE COMPLETED THE R.O. COURSE AND IT ISAVAILABLE TO ANY MEMEBER WHO HAS BEEN IN THE CLUB FOR 1 YEAR.
